Happy 15th Birthday Set-Exchange.co.uk!

Set-Exchange.co.uk is 15 years old
Way back in 2011 we began this project as a way to help all of us move towards a more sustainable industry. A lot has changed over that time but we are proud of the small part we have played, and are still contributing to, in helping reduce waste within Theatre, TV and Event production.
But along side that, Set-Exchange.co.uk has always been about sharing what we have. Created during a time of funding cuts it was a way to facilitate the sharing of resources and making available to others what we no longer need. As rising costs continue to hit we still believe passionately that we can help each other by passing on that show floor to another company to repurpose rather than having to buy new. Each of our industries are small communities, and supporting each other is a key to each communities sustainability and future.
Set-Exchange.co.uk have helped to rehome thousands of items since we began, from standard stock masking and rostra, furniture, floors, and doors, to the more obscure ice cream van, a speedboat, and a front of the Tardis. We have helped companies share old lighting equipment and flight cases, projectors and props skips, and even auditoriums of old theatre seats. We have never had an administration policy and the site has always been, and intends to continue to be, free and open for all to use.
Our project is not funded, but is self sustaining through advertising and donations, with the upkeep and moderating of the site managed by volunteers. We work for the benefit of everyone, and are hugely grateful to all of you who have been part of this adventure so far. The site is nothing if people don’t use it, so thank you to the thousands of you who have signed up, offered your items, or collected pieces via the site. You are all part of our success and collectively have proven that we can make a difference. Long may you all continue, and Happy Birthday Set-Exchange.co.uk.
